A young girl critically injured in the Tumbler Ridge school shooting in British Columbia, Canada has been identified as 12-year-old Maya. A GoFundMe set up for the girl’s medical expenses has raised over $63,000 in less than 24 hours. Maya received a gunshot wound to the back of the head and to the neck. Nine people were killed and 25 others injured after a gunman opened fire at the Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a nearby residence at around 1:20 pm local time on Tuesday. The gunman, who was identified by a family member as Jesse Strang, is also dead. Online, Strang wrote about being transgender, taking SSRIs, and being suicidal because he could not access cross-sex hormones.
