A federal judge partially blocked an Idaho law that could jail transgender people for using the wrong bathroom from taking effect Tuesday, according to court documents. Chief U.S. District Court Judge Amanda Brailsford — appointed by former President Joe Biden in 2023 — issued a narrow preliminary injunction against House Bill 752 (HB 752) temporarily blocking the enforcement of criminal penalties for use of some public restrooms. Republican Idaho Gov. Brad Little signed HB 752 into law May 31 after Republican lawmakers approved it in March.
